Are You A Coffee Lover?

Coffee's UnIntended Benefits | Advanced Dentistry of Collegeville

Are you a coffee lover? Studies show that coffee may have the unintended benefit of lowering the risk of gum disease!

Researchers at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine concluded in their study that coffee did not have a negative impact on periodontal health and regular coffee drinking had minimal impact on the number of teeth affected by bone loss.

Data used for this study comprised of 1,100 adult males ages 26-84. It is the first study of its kind to explore possible periodontal impact of drinking coffee.

While this unintended benefit is a positive for coffee drinkers everywhere, coffee can also stain and discolor teeth.  Brushing and flossing after drinking coffee is imperative.
